Media Specialist
Van immigrated to Nebraska from Vietnam in 1984 as a refugee. He later moved to Kansas, where he worked as a social worker in Seward County Community College’s Refugee Program, assisting Southeast Asian immigrants in adjusting to their new lives in this country.
During his time in Kansas, Van completed numerous hours of training in mental health, counseling, and crisis prevention. He also served on various advisory boards, providing guidance and insights to local organizations and government agencies.
Van holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, East Bay.
In 1990, Van joined KTSF Channel 26, an independent Asian television station. As the Associate Director of New Media and Political Specialist, Van guided business owners and politicians in planning and executing effective TV advertising campaigns. After more than 30 successful years at KTSF-TV26, Van retired in early 2023.
He has served on APA Family Support Services’ board of directors for over 15 years and is currently an active member of the Program Committee.
